Reports to: Software Team Lead

Location: Inovor’s Headquarters, Lot Fourteen, Adelaide.

Remuneration: Negotiable based on experience

Citizenship: Australian citizens only

We are a space and defence company located in Australia’s first innovation neighbourhood at Lot Fourteen in Adelaide. We are a resident amongst many other innovative and high-tech companies and are next door to the University precinct and the beautiful Botanical Gardens.

With around 50 employees, we develop satellite technologies and are building several spacecraft for civilian and defence customers. We have developed a family of small satellite platforms and provide a complete turnkey satellite mission solution from mission design to spacecraft design, manufacture, integration, test, delivery, and operations. We also provide services to Defence in several key areas, including electronic warfare, simulation and modelling and space surveillance.

Position Broad Purpose

This position is an exciting opportunity for a Spacecraft Operator to join our growing spacecraft operations team at Lot Fourteen. Through the role, the Spacecraft Operator will be working intimately with spacecraft in orbit and exposed to everything there is to know about satellites and operations. The newly formed team you’ll join is made up of excited and motivated staff who are passionate about operating spacecraft and further developing tools to make operations as automated and efficient as possible. As this is a growing team, there is opportunity to increase the role/responsibility for the right candidate. You will be responsible for:

  • Operating and scheduling several spacecraft through an in-house designed Mission Control System.
  • Monitoring spacecraft health and responding to spacecraft anomalies when they arise.
  • Validation of spacecraft operations against ground-based simulation systems.
  • Development of software tools (primarily in python) to make day-to-day activities more efficient and streamlined.
  • Data processing and analysis for health monitoring of spacecraft.
  • Monitoring and managing cloud infrastructure for operational tools.
  • Working with customers to handle operations requests and coordinate spacecraft operations.


Reporting Relationships and Key Stakeholders

This position reports to the Software Team Lead.

The position will work closely with:

  • Our multi-disciplinary technical team.
  • Our project management team.
  • Our customers.


Criteria – Essential

  • Possess software development skills in a programming language.

Criteria – Desirable

  • Prior experience in the space, aviation, or defence industries.
  • Effective communications skills and a natural ability to influence positive outcomes within our team and our customers.
