Life in Space

German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the German Business Chamber of South Australia
Tech Central, Frome Road Lot Fourteen Adelaide, SA 5000
Monday 14 July 2025, 10:30AM — 2:00PM

Returning for the third year in a row, the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the German Business Chamber of South Australia present Life in Space, an insightful event, which explores the intersection of space with health and life sciences.

This year, expert speakers will address two core topics bridging these two crucial sectors.
The first panel will discuss the intersection of space law, regulation, and the supply chain needs of the growing space manufacturing and life sciences sectors.

As human spaceflight and space medicine rapidly evolve, Australia — and particularly South Australia — is uniquely positioned to become a global hub for space returns infrastructure, regulatory innovation, and cross-sector collaboration.

This discussion will explore:

  • The regulatory challenges and opportunities surrounding launch and return missions, and how international joint efforts could shape new frameworks.
  • The supply chain and service requirements to support spacecraft returns, life sciences R&D in space, and sustained industry collaboration
  • Arising opportunities to build Australia’s space medicine and biotech capabilities

The second panel will look into research and development surrounding space life sciences research and returns.

  • Why are the Space and Life Sciences Sector sectors so relevant to each other? What can they learn from each other and where can they effectively collaborate?
  • What can the ecosystem provide to enhance mutual impact and advance drug development, space research and learning?
  • What recent research projects bridge the Aerospace and Life science sectors and how can collaboration opportunities be leveraged?

Hear the latest updates in this sector and network with key people in the industry at a dynamic and engaging event, proudly part of Australian Space Week!

We are excited to hear from our speakers:

  • Eamon Lawson, Southern Launch
  • Melissa de Zwart, University of Adelaide
  • Tom Radomski, Invest SA
  • Sarah Fardy, Merck Life Sciences
  • Ben Wannan and Thomas Mueller, Egress Space
  • Kyall Pocock, Zeiss Research Microscopy Solutions
  • and others

Whether you’re part of the space, life sciences, legal, or logistics ecosystem, this is your chance to engage with thought leaders, identify gaps in the supply chain, and explore how your organisation can contribute to Australia’s growing role in the Space and Life Sciences sectors.

A light lunch will be served.
