Anecdotal accounts of Adelaide’s startup sector growth have been backed by the release of two recent global reports, which demonstrate our capital city’s growth relative to other regions around the world.

For the first time, Adelaide is featured on the Global Startup Ecosystem Report’s Emerging Ecosystem list, showcasing smaller ecosystems with the highest potential to become global performers.

Similarly, StartupBlink’s Startup Ecosystem Index Report, released in May, showed Adelaide rising 14 places globally, and up one spot in the ranking of Australian cities.

The Global Startup Ecosystem Report – published annually by organisation Startup Genome – also found that from 2023 to 2024, Adelaide’s startup ecosystem:

  • jumped more than 25 spots in the overall Startup Ecosystem Rankings
  • increased 19 per cent in value, reaching $1.9 billion.

Adelaide startups were also shown to have raised an estimated $146 million in early-stage funding from July 2021 to December 2023. During this period there were also three large exits of over $50 million recorded.

The Global Startup Ecosystem Report was released in the United Kingdom yesterday, to coincide with one of the world’s biggest annual tech events, London Tech Week.

Attending London Tech Week events – and a curated program of other meetings and workshops – are representatives from five South Australian entrepreneurs and a local investment firm, all hoping to explore export and expansion opportunities in the UK market.

Business founders and leaders from Real Time Data, Migrova, LEKI Australia, Playground123, Swarmer (investor) and Lot Fourteen’s startup, CareApp have been supported by the South Australian Government to participate in Tribe Global Ventures’ UK trade mission.

Participant Syed Hussan, Co-Founder and CEO of Migrova, said he’s eager to engage with customers and investors during this mission.

“Migrova aims to launch in the UK later this year, offering a unified platform for aspiring migrants to digitally connect with leading Australian migration agents, streamlining their migration process,” he said.

“London Tech Week presents an excellent opportunity to connect with potential migrants and investors before our launch.”
