Australia’s leading launch services company, Gilmour Space Technologies, has touched down in South Australia to tap into the state’s growing space ecosystem and strengthen industry connections.
The Queensland-based company, backed by major Australian investors, is a leading provider of Australian‑made launch vehicles and satellite platforms. It is the latest firm to establish a presence at the Defence and Space Landing Pad at Lot Fourteen – South Australia’s world-class innovation district.
Joining an impressive list of global and interstate defence and space companies that have used the Landing Pad as a springboard into the state, Gilmour Space will leverage Lot Fourteen’s innovative ecosystem to strengthen coordination with government, regulators and key stakeholders.
Its presence at the Landing Pad positions Gilmour Space at the centre of a thriving space ecosystem, unlocking new opportunities for collaboration with the Australian Space Agency, industry partners and the South Australian research community.
The Defence and Space Landing Pad is a one-stop-shop for national and international defence and space companies wanting to establish a local foothold in South Australia. It provides office accommodation, government support and business advice, helping companies scale local operations.
Since launching in 2018, the Landing Pad has supported more than 20 national and international space and defence companies to expand locally.
Global defence giants Kongsberg, Egis and L3 Harris have successfully used the Landing Pad to establish permanent operations in the state.
Here’s what Head of Mission Management at Gilmour Space, Matt Congedi, has to say about choosing Lot Fourteen:
“South Australia is a key player in the nation’s space and defence sectors, with new technologies, talent and expertise emerging across the state. This strongly complements the sovereign launch and satellite manufacturing capabilities we are building at Gilmour Space.
Lot Fourteen brings together the Australian Space Agency, leading universities, emerging space startups and established defence companies.
Having a presence at the Defence and Space Landing Pad, helps us to collaborate more effectively and stay connected to the ideas, talent and opportunities shaping Australia’s future in space.”
