Breaking new ground in space exploration, Katherine Bennell-Pegg is now officially the first person to qualify as an astronaut under the Australian flag!
In 2023, while working as the Director of Space Technology at the Australian Space Agency at Lot Fourteen, Katherine was invited to undertake astronaut training with the European Space Agency in Germany.
After 13 months of intense training, Katherine has successfully graduated as an astronaut, making her eligible for future missions to the International Space Station.
Not only is Katherine fulfilling her childhood dream of becoming an astronaut, but she is also making history and becoming an ambassador for Australia’s space industry.
