Innovation Hub

The hub’s operator will function as a state-wide ecosystem enabler, acting as a concierge for businesses, intermediaries and research institutions, while curating, operating and activating the hub.

The Innovation Hub will be dedicated to fostering idea exchange and accelerating research translation, commercialisation and business growth through industry attraction and investment. The hub will be a vital centre point amongst SA’s network of 22 innovation places – which are expected to unlock employment for over 42,000 people, support essential economic growth, investment attraction, job creation, regional connectivity and link state-wide education, skills and workforce programs.

The South Australian Government is committed to establishing Lot Fourteen’s first development, the Innovation Centre building with a developer scheduled to be appointed by March 2025. The Innovation Hub will be located in this new commercial building in the heart of Adelaide with tenants: the Australian Defence Technologies Academy, the Space Assembly Integration and Testing (AIT) Facility, and BAE Systems Australia.

The Australian Government has committed a project budget of $20 million through the Adelaide City Deal towards the physical establishment of the Innovation Hub (draft title) with a State Government contribution of $4.525 million.

DPC through the EOI process intends to enter into an agreement with a Preferred Supplier to plan, co-design and operate the Innovation Hub for agreed services and functions for a period of up to 13 years on a peppercorn (nominal) licence arrangement.

The EOI allows for partial-service delivery of the Innovation Hub’s operations within alternative ad hoc temporary short-term accommodation (free of charge) at Lot Fourteen during the initial first 3-year contract phase (Planning Phase), including providing advice to DPC and their architect for the purposes of assisting DPC in informing the design of the Innovation Hub fit-out (taking into account the successful Supplier’s operating model).
